Why Biodiesel Must Be Filtered

Filtering Biodiesel

Since biodiesel fuel comes from waste oil, there is a necessity that the end product is filtered. There is a filtration process for biodiesel fuel and remove materials or chemical agents that are not suited for its use. This filtration process helps remove harmful contaminants in biodiesel fuel and will make the fuel more effective.

One important component of a biodiesel filter is the filter bag. This is used in filtering fluids such as water as this will cause the biodiesel fuel to affect the machines. The end effect of a biodiesel fuel with water in it is corrosion. Called �gravity feed�, these filters are pretty much available in many do-it-yourself shops. Another component is the cartridge filter. These cartridges spin and pumps are used with these cartridges to filter the biodiesel fuel. There are also pre-filtered biodiesel fuel that are heated by approximately 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit.
